Gov The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has banned Nightclubs and Pr*stitution in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
He gave the order in his new year broadcast in Port Harcourt on Saturday. Wike banned nightclub activities and as well as nighttime trading and street pr*stitutions, especially Abacha road and surrounding streets. Particularly in the Casablanca area.
According to the Governor, the move will help instil morals in the life of children and society. Furthermore, it will, ” stop the h*rmful effect of these depraved activities on the moral development of children and the society at large.
However, he mentioned that activities such as drug trafficking, pr*stitutions are effects of nightclubs. Nightclub largely contributes to these h*rmful activities. Moreover, the victim of these unlawful activities are mostly children under 14 years of age. Thereby causing a large moral decline in the younger generation of the society.

Nevertheless, the ban is said to be immediate, concentrating on the Abacha road, Casanblaca jurisdictions and other surrounding areas involved in these activities.
