Wale Ojo is a British-Nigerian actor, director and movie producer who has starred in Nollywood, Hollywood and English films.
He was born on September 9 1968 in Ibadan, Nigeria to parents from Oyo state. His father was polygamous and had 6 wives, so wale has many siblings. His parents divorced after many years of marriage. Consequently, Wale was raised by his mother who was a stage actress at the University of Ibadan theatre.
He had his early education in Ibadan, Nigeria before he travelled to London at the age of 12 to continue his education. He attended the University of Hull where he studied drama and graduated in 1986.
Wale started his acting career as a child at age 8 in the early 1970s on NTA Ibadan’s Tv series, “Why worry the barber?” alongside Akin Lewis.
However, he started acting professionally at the age of 21 in England. His first play was Shakespeare’s Othello.
Upon returning to Nigeria, wale Ojo started his own production company, the New Nigeria cinema whose aim is to improve the quality of Nigerian films.
Wale has appeared in Hollywood, Nollywood and English blockbusters such as Rage, Johnny English reborn, The Guard, The Hard Case, Black Earth Rising, Tinsel, Phone Swap, Half of a Yellow Sun, Meet the Adebanjos, Alter ego, and more.
He won the award for best actor at the 2012 Nigeria Entertainment Awards for his role in “Phone Swap”.
