The dawn of a new day is a new page to live life to the fullest. A new page to love ourselves, and others. We can not treat others outside the way we treat ourselves. If we feel unworthy, we treat others as worthless. Lack of love for yourself is a bedrock on which other live issues thrive. Self-hate is the root of all life issues. It is the birth of depression, body shaming, and even all sorts of societal crises. The world’s lack of love begins with a lack of love for self.

  • The concept of Self-love can be seen as an introspective prioritization of self that targets an intimate or deeper feeling, acceptance or strong emotion towards one self.
  • Loving oneself has to do with a reflective or meditative focus or attention on one’s own positive traits or characteristics that seeks freedom from all forms of negative thoughts about YOU. It gives no room to guilt or insecurity, past hurts, disappointments amongst others.

Loving oneself is the key that unlocks love towards God, and others. Without love flowing from within, there can not be love gushing without. You can not give what you do not have.

It’s vital to love yourself. You embrace who you are in God. His promises for you, and the gift of salvation become real.

Loving yourself does not mean being – pride, rude, stuck-up, putting yourself first at the hurt he others, cheating. These are a worldly type of love that depicts self-worship. This is not God’s way of loving. Love for oneself deals with appreciating the person God has made you be. Submitting to what God says about you as written in the scriptures. Be humble to accept the salvation God gave you.

Lack of Self-love ushers one into the bondage of self-rejection, self-hatred, and unwillingness to forgive oneself amongst others.

– Self-rejection

This comes as a result of not accepting yourself. You beat yourself up for past mistakes and blame yourself all the time. You body shame you, and won’t appreciate your personality..l

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

– Self-hatred.

You have this intense hatred in your heart for you. You think of yourself as not beautiful or handsome. Everyone seems better than you. You call yourself names like daft, slow or dull, failure and so on.

– Unforgiveness

You stay bitter over every error you make. You have refused to let go of past self-inflicted hurt. You take blames for others’ flaws against you.
You become so hard on Youself, and this breaks you down physically, spiritually, mentally and in every way. You place impossible goals just to punish you more

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

– Low self-esteem

You build low self-esteem as you constantly talk yourself down. Shame of self sets in, and you isolate yourself because you feel others are better, and you shouldn’t be found in their midst.

  1. 1 BE THANKUL!

In life, always remember, there are people wishing to be just like you. You are the image of God. Thank Him, for He has fearfully and wonderfully made you. Do you know when you think bad of yourself, you consider God incompetent?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

The book of Genesis 1:26, says, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and overall the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”

Hence, note;

– God made your physical body. He is a perfect God and has made you perfect.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

– God made your mind and intellect. He is all-wise God, and His window dwells within you.

– You are God’s image. Ye are god!

Psalms 139:14, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Loving yourself is not boasting about who you are. It is appreciating God for the beautiful creation that God made in you!

When you wake up in the morning, look yourself up in the mirror and say, “Wow! Look at what God gave me! It’s marvellous!!” This will help us develop this same attitude about what God’s given others.

Forgive yourself! You forgive others when you forgive yourself. Sometimes, we tend to forgive others and hold ourselves bondage. Unforgiveness denies you many blessings that come
with living.

Hebrews 12:15, “Looking diligently lest any man fails of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.”

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Let go of that past sins. Was it cheating on your partner or spouse, abortion, fornication, or some gross and embarrassing sin like stealing, lying? What is it? Let it go! God forgives us so we can be at peace with ourselves. Forgive for your sake!

Isaiah 43:25, “I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.”

If the Word of God tells us God has forgiven us when we confess genuinely, holding up yourself is false guilt. The devil will only use it as a tool to pull you down to not! Keep your thought lined up with God’s thought as recorded in the Word.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Psalms 103:12, “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”

At every point, ask yourself, what is God’s Word saying? Stay livkex up in the Word of God. Trust God’s word. Just believe!

  1. It is unsatisfying.
    All have sin and fallen short of the glory of God. In sin we were conceive. So how do you expect to find pure love inward? We are naturally flawed and are no perfect. We constantly make mistakes and find no perfection in ourselves. Outside God, we are empty, and can do nothing.

Our love is limited. Only the love of God shared abroad within us can find full expressions without us. Striving for the love that comes from self leaves us empty. Our love satisfaction only comes from God. We can not escape depression when we rely on human, or self love only. Let the love that radiate within us come from the place of biblical truth of God’s word.
For while we were yet sinners, God loves us and stretched out His hands of Salvation towards us.

  1. It is unsanctifying.
    It is true we all all sinners. But as many that are born again, to them, He gives the power to be called the children of God. God doesn’t want anyone to die in sin. Self – love can not sanctify or purify you from sin. Infact, it cause one to be deep in regrets for where we went from instead embracing the truth in God’s love, and running into His hands for safety.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
  1. God’s word recasts self-love.
    A careful look at 2 Timothy 3:1–5, we see that in the last days people will be “lovers of self . . ., rather than lovers of God.” You can so love self that God does not matter anymore. You place you first before God. This dethrones God from the rightful place in our heart.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

A striving for self-love and acceptance is not the best way to heal guilt, and hurts of the past, or current state of depression but in embracing the reckless, overwhelming love of God. He helps us see ourselves as He sees us. Then can we truly live ourselves. Through the love of God, we are washed clean, purified, ratified, and declared the righteousness of God by faith in Christ (Romans 3:24).

True self-love is in God’s love. We come to the acceptance of ourselves as the redeemed children of God. We do not merit this. Nevertheless, we are made worthy through the salvation of our soul.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

As we accept our redemption in God, we are made free to Love purely. We can now love as God loves. You now love yourself enough. True love, hope and faith are in God. The world can not give us these.

Only in God can we love ourselves enough.

May the new week bring you so much love, hope, and faith!
