Anthony Starr is a New Zealand actor best known for his role as Homelander in Amazon Prime’s The Boys series.

The 46-year-old actor started his acting career in the 1990s. He had small roles in Shortland Street, Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The legendary journeys.

In 2001, Starr was cast in the guest role of Todd Van der Velter in the 3 seasons of the show, Mercy Peak.

Starr has also appeared in Tv shows like Hard out, Street Legal, Serial Killers and Outrageous Fortune.

For his role as the twins, Van and Jethro West in Outrageous Fortune, Starr won the 2007 Air New Zealand Screen Award for Best Performance by an actor. He also won the award for best actor at Qantas Television Awards and the Asian TV Awards in the same year.

Starr has also appeared in movies including Without a Paddle, In my Father’s Den, Sex with Strangers and more.

From 2013 to 2016, Anthony Starred as Lucas Hood in the Television series, Banshee, which was his first role on U.S television.

Furthermore, in 2016, Starr portrayed Garrett Hawthorne, the main character in the CBS crime/mystery series American Gothic.

In 2019, Starr was cast as The Homelander in The Boys and has reprised the role for all 3 released seasons. This is his most prominent role and he will reprise it in the 4th season currently in production.
